Who we are
Ella Shirazi Photography is a maternity, newborn, baby, cake-smash, and family photography studio in Burnaby, BC. You can reach us at ella@ellashiraziphotography.com or 604-312-0243. Our studio is at Unit 5, 8980 Fraserwood Court, Burnaby, BC V5J 5G6.
This page explains, in plain language, what we collect about you, what we do with it, who else sees it, and how to ask us to change or delete it.
What we collect
When you fill in the contact form, you give us your name, email, and (if you want) your phone number, what kind of session you’re interested in, an optional preferred date, and whatever message you’d like to send. If you tick the box to hear about offers, we save that choice too.
When you book a session, you give us the extra details we need to photograph you — for example a home address if it’s an in-home shoot, the date of the session, and who to send the invoice to.
While you’re on the site, your browser sends us the usual things sites get automatically: your IP address, what kind of browser you’re using, the page you came from, and which pages you visit. If you arrived from one of our ads, we also see the click ID from Google or Meta so we know which ad worked. We use cookies for some of this — see the Cookies section below for what’s optional and how to say no.
What we do with it
We use your information to:
- Reply to your inquiry and book your session.
- Run your session and deliver your photos — including reminders about your appointment by email.
- Send marketing emails — only if you’ve ticked the box. You can unsubscribe any time using the link at the bottom of each email.
- Measure how our website and ads are doing — only if you’ve agreed to analytics or advertising cookies. You can change your mind any time through the cookie preferences link in the footer.
- Draft suggested replies for Ella to review. When you send an inquiry, we use Google’s Gemini AI to help draft a reply for Ella to edit and send. We only send your first name, the service you asked about, your preferred date, and your message body to the AI. Your email, phone number, and other identifying details stay with us.
Who else sees it
We use a few outside services to run the website and the business. Each one sees only the parts of your information they need, and each is contractually required to look after it.
- Google Cloud (Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, Firebase Hosting) — hosts the website and stores your inquiry and photos. Data lives in Google’s US-west and US-central data centres.
- Google Gemini AI (Vertex AI) — drafts suggested replies for Ella to review, using the limited fields described above.
- Google Analytics 4 — anonymous traffic measurement. Only runs if you’ve agreed to analytics cookies.
- Google Ads — measures whether our ads brought you here. Only runs if you’ve agreed to advertising cookies.
- Meta (Facebook, Instagram) — same idea as Google Ads, for our Meta campaigns. Only runs if you’ve agreed to advertising cookies.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — stops bots from spamming the contact form. This one is always on because the form needs it to work.
- Gmail / Google Workspace — sends Ella your inquiry and any email conversation that follows.
We don’t sell your personal information to anyone.

Cookies
The site uses three kinds of cookies:
- Essential — needed for the site to work (for example, to remember you said no to the cookie banner itself). Always on.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4. Off unless you turn it on.
- Advertising — Google Ads and the Meta Pixel. Off unless you turn it on.
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept all, reject all, or pick categories. Your choice is saved in a cookie on your device for one year, and you can change it any time using the preferences link in the footer.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Show you what information we have about you.
- Fix anything that’s wrong.
- Delete your information. (Some records — like tax-related invoices — we’re legally required to keep for a set period.)
- Send your information to you in a format you can take elsewhere.
- Stop using your information for a specific purpose, like marketing.
- Withdraw a consent you previously gave us, such as for marketing emails or for analytics or advertising cookies.

Children
The website and our services aren’t aimed at children. We only photograph children at the request, and with the consent, of a parent or legal guardian as part of a booked session.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything important about this policy, we’ll update the date below and, where it makes sense, email recent contacts so they know.
